COMPANY BACKGROUND
Apollo Cytokine Research specializes in the development, manufacture and marketing of human cell expressed (hcx) human cytokines, chemokines, adhesion molecules and growth factors for life science researchers. Over 90 recombinant human proteins (hcx), including both ligands and receptors are available. ELISA kits with human recombinant protein standards expressed from human cells (hcx) are also available.
Apollo's production methods using human cell lines ensure natural human post-translational modifications. Post-translational modifications such as glycosylation assist with protein folding, stability and antigenicity, and vary from species to species.
Apollo developed its unique product range of recombinant ligands, receptors and ELISA kits in response to a market need for research reagent products that have more human characteristics than those expressed from bacteria, insect or rodent cell lines. Research undertaken to date indicates that Apollo's recombinant human hcx proteins perform better in bioassays and are detected differently by commercial ELISA kits.
In addition to basic product information and background information on the molecule, product sheets included with the proteins also contain information about distinctive characteristics of our proteins. The additional information includes observed molecular weight and pI compared to the theoretical, with a related densitometry analysis figure. A 2D gel, showing the proteins isoforms and a 1D gel demonstrating shift in molecular weight with the removal of N and/or O glycans are also included in many instances.
Conventional chromatography purification techniques are utilized to purify the proteins. No tag-based affinity chromatography techniques are used for ligands. Each protein has purity greater than 95% by silver stain, with most proteins >97% pure. The proteins are formulated in HSA and trehalose and are supplied lyophilized for stability and to facilitate handling, shipping and storage. They do not contain sodium azide.
